Overview

People with skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) are in demand across the globe. Preparing the next generation of competitive workers requires teachers who can inspire a love of STEM. Taught by science and education specialists, this course will provide you with the skills to become a qualified secondary teacher specialising in a science-related discipline, including maths.

Our program is University wide, meaning you learn teaching subjects from experts in each key learning area. For example you'll learn science from our world-class science teachers and researchers.

You'll be taught by academics who are also researching the latest approaches to teaching. Macquarie is a leader in educational research particularly in the areas of information and communication technology, and maths and science teaching.

You'll participate in a comprehensive professional experience program.

You don't need to achieve an HSC Band 5 result in 3 subjects (including English) to enter this course, you only need to meet the ATAR requirements to be considered.

ACCREDITATION

Graduates are eligible for accreditation to teach in government and non-government schools. This degree is recognised nationally and internationally by education providers. Accreditation had been applied for to meet anticipated new government policy requirements around entry to teacher education programs.

SUITABLE FOR

Applicants must have: Gao Kao (Hainan)- 540, 567, 585, 621, 684; Gao Kao (Jiangsu) - 270, 300, 312, 331, 365; Gao Kao (Shanghai) - 380, 397, 428, 460, 491; Gao Kao (Other provinces) - 420, 473, 510, 548, 585. To apply for an undergraduate program, international students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications: A recognized senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification; A recognized university Foundation course; A recognized 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree; At least one year of a university degree from a recognized institution. IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent.
