Who is this programme designed for?

This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed a Bachelor's degree, for entry to postgraduate studies at the University of Reading. If you successfully complete the MFP to the required level of attainment in all academic areas and achieve the required English language score, you will have the opportunity to automatically progress onto a place on a suitable programme of postgraduate study

How long will I study for?

The duration of the programme is three terms, with each term consisting of seven to eight teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by term with students on average studying around 18-23 (and up to 25) hours per week.

English Language forms up to six hours of your timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if you need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable.

Students will be expected to timetable self-study hours in addition to the classroom-based hours.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed at regular intervals to ensure you are making the progress required to successfully complete the programme. The programme is predominently coursework based but assessment will take place in the final term. Assessment methodologies are aligned to those that will be experienced in the university environment, and include project work, essays, presentations.

What support will I receive?

You will be supported by a personal tutor and subject pathway leaders who will regularly check your progress.
