The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Binghamton University prepares graduates to prevent disease and promote health by addressing underlying environmental factors and social determinants, with the ultimate goal of achieving health equity among populations.

The program, which offers both full-time and part-time study, pursues focused scholarship in population health and global health. All students take a foundation course that encourages role development and socialization in public health, as well as five core courses in social and behavioral sciences, biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology and health policy. They also participate in a three-course sequence on research concepts and measurements; determinants and disparities; and policies, strategies and implementation in either population health or global health. The curriculum also includes experiential courses that build skills in health policy analysis and advocacy.

After You Graduate

The MPH program readies students for a wide range of careers in the public, non-profit and private sectors in New York, across the United States and around the world. Graduates are set up for success in public health departments, insurance agencies and pharmaceutical companies, as well as settings across the health care spectrum, from primary care and home care to hospitals and long-term care facilities.

To be eligible for graduate study, you must: Provide a complete set of your undergraduate (and, if applicable, graduate) transcripts showing one of the following: You have earned a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university; You are within one academic year of earning a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university; You are eligible to apply as part of a memorandum of understanding between your current institution and Binghamton University. Have earned, at minimum, one of the following: A 3.0 GPA over your entire undergraduate career; A 3.0 GPA during last 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits of your undergraduate degree, with most courses graded regularly (not as "pass/fail"); A 3.0 GPA in a graduate degree, with most courses graded regularly (not as "pass/fail"); In consideration of the different grading scales used around the world, each academic department evaluates international transcripts to determine on a case-by-case basis whether they demonstrate one of the above requirements; IELTS: The Graduate School requires a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, with no band below 5.0; TOEFL: The Graduate School requires a minimum TOEFL score of 80 on the Internet-based test; PTE Academic: The Graduate School requires a minimum PTE Academic score of 53.
