Why is this course for me?

This course will appeal to those with a keen interest in science and in how research and technology can impact on human health. You’ll learn how scientifically driven investigations can advance our knowledge of disease prevention, detection and treatment. The programme will immerse you in modern medical and biological sciences, and focus on the application of scientific developments. The flexible, modular structure of this degree allows you to specialize in the areas of investigative biomedical science that interest you, particularly in the later stages of the degree.

Career & Graduate Study Opportunities

Typically, graduates will follow scientific careers in biomedical research, undertaking MSc and PhD higher degrees. They also have a high success rate for entry to Graduate Entry Medicine programmes and pursue opportunities in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, as well as other areas allied to health.

Students must have Award of Regional Ministry of Education/Municipal Education Commission (or equivalent) approved Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate and GaoKao result. In some circumstances the Huikao may be acceptable. Students must have Cambridge A Level: At least three subjects at A Level Grade C and three other subjects at GCSE Level Grade C. UCD requires Baccalauréat de l'Enseignement Secondaire + 1 year at a recognised university (Dipl?me de … (plus professional field); Dipl?me d'Etudes Supérieures; Dipl?me d'Ingénieur/d'Architecte d'Etat or Licence). English language requirements: IELTS - An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version; A minimum score of 600 in the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), with Test of Written English at 475 +, a minimum score of 90 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (IBT); Pearson English Language Text: Minimum of 63 and at least 59 for each item in the Communicative Skills section.
