Combine your interests in the natural world and computers through the physics-computer science degree. This program focuses on basic elements in both physics and computer science, giving you a solid foundation in both disciplines, a grasp of the overlap between them and knowledge of computer applications in a scientific environment.

Program Details

The Department of Physics at the University of Dayton offers a vigorous program in both its educational and research endeavors. Our majors are strongly encouraged to become involved in undergraduate research projects and many opportunities exist for such. Graduates find that the undergraduate physics degree provides them with the foundation for various careers in physics and other fields as well.

Program Outcomes

In order to build expertise in physics-computer science, you will take a wide spectrum of physics, computer science and mathematics courses, as well as general education requirements. Electives allow you to concentrate your studies in a particular area of interest, and you will be able to choose from a variety of physics and computer science courses.

Since there are relatively few physics-computer science majors, you have frequent opportunities to work with your professors on educational and research projects. Through these experiences, you will obtain insight into questions that will aid professional development.

Please note that many majors require a minimum overall band score of 6.5. International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP). A minimum overall score of 4.0 is required for full admission. Please note that many majors require a minimum score of 4.5. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): A minimum score of 50 is required for full admission. Please note that many majors require a minimum score of 60.
