The Film Studies track is known for its high-quality supervision of students. It offers a solid network for international exchanges and traineeships. Moreover, the University of Groningen is notable for its excellent guidance of international students. The university is home to a unique film archive, containing different formats of films, cinematic devices, posters and literature available for hands-on education and research.

During our three-year programme, students follow the required modules in their own arts specialisation (film) as well as, a second arts discipline and integrated arts courses highlighting the role of arts in society. This BA track also allows access to the arts disciplinary MA programme in Film within the Department of Arts, Culture and Media.

Job prospects

Once you have graduated, you will be qualified to work within organisations related to the arts, such as theatres, arts companies, concert halls, popular music venues, orchestras and museums. You could also work for a publishing firm, within government institutions, for research companies, or within public media organizations (radio, TV or internet). Your employment tasks will range from arts curatorship and arts research and evaluation to management and policy consultation.
