This course is for graduates from a range of scientific backgrounds who are interested in tumour immunology and wish to pursue a career either in the biotechnology industry or academia.

Overview

The biggest modern breakthrough for cancer treatment has been antibody therapies. An increasing number of biotechnology companies have antibody - or vaccine-based cancer therapies in development.

This course is for graduates from a range of scientific backgrounds who are interested in tumour immunology and wish to pursue a career either in the biotechnology industry or academia. It is also open to professionals already in relevant employment who may wish to improve and update their knowledge and experience.

Course highlights:

  • Join the only masters course which focuses on tumour immunology
  • Experience a substantial research project, further developing your laboratory-based skills
  • Extensive training in scientific writing and the development of a business plan, through specific modules
  • Learn from active researchers and experts currently working in industry

Over the duration of this course you will:

  • Acquire a specialised knowledge in tumour immunology with particular reference to monoclonal antibody and cancer vaccines
  • Develop the critical and analytical power to evaluate scientific literature
  • Perform a scientific research project
  • Acquire the ability to communicate scientific results orally and in writing
  • Learn about business exploitation of cancer therapy

Students who do not meet the entry requirements stated above and students who hold a three-year diploma (Da Zhuan) from a recognised Chinese university with good grades, may be eligible for the University’s pre-Master's Programme delivered on campus at the University of Liverpool International College. Students need to have IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
