Are you interested in helping to improve the quality of life for people with physical, mental, social or emotional limitations? Therapeutic Recreation recognizes the value of leisure, recreation and play as vital for quality of life. You will learn how to plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs aimed at assisting the individual to achieve independence, optimal health and a high quality of life.

The University of Regina's Therapeutic Recreation program is the only one of its kind between British Columbia and Nova Scotia that guarantees academic path eligibility for certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.

Assessment in Therapeutic Recreation, Interventions in Therapeutic Recreation, Professional Issues.

Career Opportunities:
Graduates pursue careers as certified therapeutic recreation specialists in a variety of settings, including long term care, acute care, day programs, rehabilitation, youth-at-risk and mental health and addictions.

Students must have completed High School (Secondary School). English Language Proficiency Requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - Internet Based: Overall 83; Reading: 20; Listening: 20; Speaking: 20; Writing: 20; IELTS - Academic: Overall Band score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0; CanTest (Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees): Listening 4.5, Reading 4.5, Writing 4.0; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 59, No area with less than 59; CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment): 60; MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery): 85; CELT (Comprehensive English Language Test): 60. GCSE/IGCSE/GCE O' Level English, English Language, or English as a Second Language with a minimum grade of '6' (grade of B prior to 2017) or GCE A/AS/AICE Level English or English Language with a minimum grade of 'C'.
