If you are an Engineering Technologist and have more than 5 years industry experience under your belt, then USQ’s Master of Engineering Practice (Civil Engineering) will give you the necessary qualification to be eligible for Professional Engineer registration with Engineers Australia.

Right from the beginning you will be able to use the knowledge and skills you have already gained in the workplace to complete your first year core units. Through self-assessment and workplace portfolios you will demonstrate how you may already meet Engineers Australia’s competencies and identify the technical courses you will need to complete in order to graduate. You will build upon your prior knowledge in Civil Engineering with advanced studies in areas such as design, structural analysis and hydraulics.

Your capstone course will see you work as part of a student civil design team to work on real world industry topics.

Professional accreditation

The program is accredited by Engineers Australia and graduates are eligible for Graduate membership at the Professional Engineer level.

Career outcomes

As a civil engineering graduate your career pathway could be as a civil engineer, construction engineer, structural engineer, transport engineer or water supply distribution engineer in either the public or private sector. There are great opportunities for travel with consulting and contracting engineers often moving from one major engineering site to another. Your expertise could land you a job in some of the largest construction projects in the engineering world.

Applicants must have Australian university three or four-year Bachelor degree in an approved discipline, or equivalent. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) score of 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/ C1 Advanced or Proficiency (CPE)/C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
